The Birthday “Blip” is gone (and it took some friends with it!)😂
Well, that didn’t take long! In my last post, I talked about my “Birthday Blip” – a 1.7 lb gain after a week of entirely expected birthday celebrations. But even when you plan for a fall the landing still bruises the ego. You know it’s probably just water weight when you see the scale move…

The birthday blip! “Life gets in the way”
Last week was not only my birthday, but also that of my partner. We had planned a quiet celebration dinner at a local steakhouse, and I had further plans at the weekend with friends and family. I knew going into that week that I was not going to lose weight, and had budgeted for it…

Another one (point 5) bites the dust! 🥂
Post-36hr weigh-in this morning, and I’m now at 16 stone 11.9 lbs (235.9 lbs / 107.2 kg). That’s another 1.5 lbs lost in just the last three days since my Saturday weigh-in! That’s now 22 lbs (9.98 kg) lost – almost 10kg in less than 10 weeks! We should really discount the two weeks when…

Is fasting hard?
That’s the first thing people ask when I tell them I don’t eat for 36 hours at a time. My answer is always: “It depends.” If you’ve followed my “reboot” since December, you know it’s not always a walk in the park. I view fasting like a muscle. If you don’t exercise it, it withers.…

Two milestones – 10% body weight and now into the 16 stone range!
I’ve finally done it—I’ve shot past my initial target of losing 10% of my body weight since my Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. Actually, I’m at 10.58%! This is a huge win. Endocrinologists and diabetes experts everywhere point to the 10% mark as a major physiological turning point for glucose handling. It’s often the ‘tipping point’…

An amazing week for weight loss!
Weighed in again this morning after my third 36hr fast of the week, and another 1.25km swim last night. I’m now down to 17 stone 1.1 lbs (239.1lbs / 108.7kg), which is another 0.6lbs (0.27kg) lost just in the last two days since my cheeky mid-week weigh-in. I’m so close now to being back in…

Back on track with another 2.8lbs week!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, which usually means I haven’t made much progress. That is both true and not. During the flu bug and blood pressure issues I reported, I was unable to exercise or fast. I did try to get back to fasting, but a natural side effect of a fast is…

A week off due to illness, but now firmly back on track
After my flu bug and mysterious fainting spells were resolved, I’ve been gradually recovering. That meant not only letting my flu bug run it’s course but nore importantly, giving my blood pressure a chance to adapt to the lower dose of my main BP medication. As I previously reported, the ‘mysterious’ fainting was actually a…

36 hour fasted and a 1.25km swim: refuelling the machine
Woke up this morning to find the scratchy throat I’d been ignoring has not just miraculously disappeared overnight, so as much as I’m fueling for muscle recovery, I’m now fueling to fight off a potential cold. I suspect Tuesday’s run in the damp cold air caught up with me, so today’s meals are pulling double…
