21 hr fast today

I’m keeping up the fasting momentum although I’ve taken a couple of rest days exercise-wise. Just walking today, about 6,000 steps.

My fasting target today was just 18hrs, but as ever I played it by ear and in the end fasted 21 hrs quite comfortably. I’ll set a target for another 18hrs tomorrow but just see how I feel.

For dinner, I had stir fry veg with turkey breast and a Thai green curry sauce with coconut milk but then treated myself to an ice cream. I’m not planning to keep buying them, but may as well use them up. I’ve been buying these Nuii ice cream lollies from Tesco as an alternative to Magnums or the Lotus Biscoff ice creams which are also really nice.

The whole meal was probably less than 1,000 calories in total. As I discussed here my aim generally is to maintain an average 1,000 calorie deficit as this equates to 2lbs lost per week. For me, around 2,000 calories per day should get me to a 1,000-calorie deficit each day.

I could easily have left it there, but I don’t want to get too carried away as the danger is that by restricting my daily calories too far I’ll just wind up feeling tired and hungry and there will be an inevitable bounce back.

So I decided to have a snack some hours later before bed – just some Fruit n Fibre cereal mixed with a few Kellogg’s Honey Nut Bites for another 500 calories or so – nothing major. Still should be a deficit of around 1,500 calories for the day.

I should reiterate – I don’t really count calories – but I like to have a rough idea just to make sure I’m maintaining the deficit I need at the outset, then it’s just habits as I try to eat the same kinds of things every week.
