36hr fast – back with a blast!

Yesterday I kick-started my fasting with an OMAD (one meal a day) fast, basically I just ate lunch – an omelette – in the early afternoon.

After my bike ride in the evening, I was a bit hungry but by the time I’d had a bath and chilled, I was honestly feeling more tired than hungry so went to bed early and figured I’d see how long I could fast.

I set myself a target of 24hrs for my fast just to see if I could reboot my “fasting muscles” – and had no problem at all. In fact, by the afternoon I was feeling absolutely fine, not really hungry at all.

We had a bit of a mini thunderstorm during the day so I waited until afterward and went out for a run, although really nothing more than a walk/run. I came back and jumped in the hot tub to relax, read for a while, and had a shower. Actually, after the shower was the only time I felt slightly light headed but this was partly due to my fasting, and partly just feeling very hot after the hot tub! It wasn’t bad at all, I went and had a quick lie down on the bed with the fan on to cool off, and was right as rain in a few minutes.

Then I made dinner to break my fast. Two small salmon steaks with asparagus, mushrooms, spinach, and avocado griddled in olive oil with garlic. Yum!
